Lake Erie Coastal Ohio Trail
Old Woman Creek National Estuarine Research Reserve, OH

Less than a mile from the most southern point of the Great Lakes, this preserve is the only freshwater estuary research station in the NOAA system. It's a diverse place where land and water systems join together to form a complex natural community. Freshwater marshes, swamp forest, a wind-swept beach, and upland forests attract countless numbers of birds, fish, mammals and reptiles. A visitors center is made of recycled materials, and hiking trails are available.
