Lake Erie Coastal Ohio Trail
Perry's Victory International Peace Memorial National Memorial, OH

America gained control over Lake Erie following the Battle of Lake Erie on September 10, 1813. Led by Commander Oliver Hazard Perry, American forces defeated British warships, blocking British supplies to Detroit and allowing General William H. Harrison to defeat British/Indian forces at the Thames River. Built in 1915, this memorial pays tribute to international peace and this battle. Visitors take an elevator to the top. A new visitor center provides a film and exhibits.

Located at 93 Delaware Avenue in Put-in-Bay on South Bass Island, the monument is visible from nearly any point on the island and is located just east of the Village of Put-in-Bay.
