Mt. Hood Scenic Byway
Trillium Lake/Summit Meadow, OR
Trillium Lake, a summer and winter recreation mecca, offers a stunning and picturesque view of Mt. Hood. The lake now fills two-thirds of the original alpine prairies that also make up Summit Meadow. Logs placed side-by-side formed a "corduroy" road across the swampy grounds for the pioneers to access the Meadow. Summit Meadow eventually became a tollgate from 1866-1870. The little graveyard and interpretive signs all whisper to the visitor of stories and tales from long ago.
