Near Winecup Ranch about four miles into the byway is an information kiosk which offers an insight about the area and its history.

Special Considerations

California Trail is a Type I byway which makes it accessible for cars to drive. Most of the roads are secondary paved roads.

The byway is easiest to drive in dry weather. The roads are accessible year round with little interference from the weather or the changing seasons.
