Driving the Byway
This 44-mile route takes travelers through a northeastern section of Iowa. Since the route is an irregular loop shape, drivers may choose where they would like to begin their journey along this byway.
Driving the Byway
- You may choose to begin the route in the city of Delaware on U.S. Highway 20 in Delaware county.
- From Highway 20, take Highway 38 south.
- Continue south on Highway 38 through the cities of Delhi and Hopkinton.
- From Hopkinton, take Highway D47 west.
- From D47, take Highway X31 north.
- From X31, take D42 west.
- From D42, take X29 north.
- From X29, drive west through Turtle Creek Recreation Area on a short stretch of gravel road.
- From the recreation area, head north on X21.
- From X21, the route then jogs east and north on local gravel roads, which provide access to the Manchester Trout Hatchery, just follow the signs to D22.
- From D22, head east back to the city of Delaware where the byway ends.
