East Tennessee Crossing
Cocke County, TN

The Warriors Path crossed the Pigeon River just 1,000 feet from the current bridge in Newport. From its creation in 1790, Newport saw tens of thousands of people headed west and north. Today, Newport is a historic, well-preserved early 20th-century railroad town with many National Register buildings. Cocke County also has many historic structures in the countryside, including Swaggerty Blockhouse from 1787.
