June 13, 2005 - Beartooth Highway Update
A portion of the Beartooth All American Road south of Red Lodge is temporarily closed for repairs. Travelers may still access the upper elevation portions of the Beartooth All American Road from Red Lodge by way of another scenic highway, the Chief Joseph Scenic Highway.

From Red Lodge, Montana and Cody, Wyoming - Using the Chief Joseph Scenic Highway visitors can access the eastern section of the Beartooth All-American Road for 29 miles to the Montana/Wyoming border, and then backtrack to the historic mining communities of Cooke City and Silver Gate and continue in to Yellowstone National Park.
Leaving Yellowstone National Park visitors will travel through Silver Gate and Cooke City, Montana and can use the Chief Joseph Scenic Highway to continue to Red Lodge, Montana and Cody, Wyoming after they have visited the eastern 29 miles of the Road to the “top of the world”.
