November 10, 2006 - Flooding Closes Part of Mt. Hood Scenic Byway
The White River flowed over SR-35 (Mt. Hood Scenic Byway) on Oregon’s Mount Hood’s eastern flank on Nov. 6th and 7th. Due to debris and road damage, SR 35 has been closed from Baseline Road to the junction with U.S. 26. The closure may last a month or more.
Drivers can still reach Timberline Lodge from the west, but can not reach Mt. Hood Meadows Ski Area until further notice. Interstate 84, the Historic Columbia River Highway, the Gorge and SR 26 are still open.
Travelers should contact the Mt. Hood Visitor’s Center for further questions and updates concerning the closures and travel conditions (888-622-4822).
