January 8, 2007 - New Florida Byway: Big Bend Scenic Byway

The Florida Department of Transportation has designated U.S. 98 from Newport to Apalachicola in the panhandle region as the Big Bend Scenic Byway. This coastal byway treats drivers to views of the Wakulla River, Ochlockonee Bay and the Gulf of Mexico. The byway also passes historic sites such as San Marcos Apalache Historic State Park, where the history of many foreign explorations is remembered.
