October 24, 2007 - Parts of Skyline Drive to Close Due to Illegal Hunting
Shenandoah National Park Superintendent Chas Cartwright has announced that portions of the Skyline Drive will be closed nights until early January to help combat illegal hunting in the park.
The drive will be closed from 5 p.m. until 8 a.m. daily from Nov. 12 through Jan. 5 between Front Royal and Thornton Gap, and between Swift Run Gap and Rockfish Gap.
The central portion of the Drive, between Thornton Gap and Swift Run Gap, will remain open until Nov. 25 for overnight access to Skyland Resort and Big Meadows Campground.
Beginning Nov. 26, the entire length of the Skyline Drive will be closed from 5 p.m. until 8 a.m. daily through Jan. 5.
