January 3, 2008 - Byway Partners Receive Take Pride in America Awards

BISMARCK - North Dakota governor John Hoeven recently recognized partners of the Sheyenne River Valley National Scenic Byway when he presented them with the Governor’s Take Pride in America Award at a ceremony at the State Capitol in Bismarck.

Governor Hoeven awarded the North Dakota State Forest Service for their collaborative efforts with the Sheyenne River Valley National Scenic Byway committee and the local chapter of the North Country Trail in the construction of three miles of the North Country Trail in the Sheyenne State Forest. The project’s volunteers played a crucial role in upgrading the trail for improved use.

The Take Pride in America Awards were given in five categories to individuals and organizations whose efforts improved North Dakota public land and inspired other citizens to do the same.
