January 16, 2009 - 2009 Gumbo Cup to Commence near the Creole Nature Trail

Sulphur, LA, will host the 5th annual Gumbo Cup on Jan. 23 - 25 at Sulphur Parks, Recreation and Aquatic Center along the Creole Nature Trail.

More than 600 gymnasts from four different states will gather for this event, and athletes from all over the southern United States will perform.

The meet will begin at 5:30 p.m. on Fri., Jan. 23 with the youngest athletes, ages 5 and older. On Jan. 24, all sessions will feature female Junior Olympic athletes. On Sun., Jan. 25, male gymnasts will perform in three sessions, at 8 a.m., 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. In the 2 p.m. session, three elite Olympic-level gymnasts will perform.
