rbull on December 7, 2004 (traveled on June 30, 2000)The Seward Highway is a strikingly beautiful drive, good for wildlife spotting: porcupines, Dall sheep, eagles, seals, etc. Watch for the Dall sheep at Windy Corner. The Forest Service visitor center at Portage Glacier is nice, but a concessionaire's boat ride is necessary to see Portage Glacier itself.
