No serious visit to Alaska (big cruise ships don't count) should miss the Marine Highway. You get to travel the coast like on a cruise ship, but closer up. And it's part of the genuine Alaska experience. This is the way Alaskans travel, and most of your shipmates will be Alaskans, not other tourists. It's delightful and inexpensive. Terminals are neat and clean, too.
