A Traveler's Experience

We have visited Lassen many times over the years and there is always something new to see or do. From bubbling mud pots at Bumpass Hell to glorious sunsets when forest fires are nearby, I am always happy to be there. There are foxes, deer and wildflowers to photograph to your heart's desire. We have been there when the snow banks are well over our heads in the middle of summer and the cool snow makes the heat of the Sacramento Valley a distant thought.
What Others Have Said
angel on September 2, 2011 (traveled on September 1, 2011)Crater Lake is a must-see stop along the Oregon section of the Volcanic Legacy Scenic Byway. In my recent trip, the lupines were gorgeous, the views of Wizard Island, the Phantom Ship and the "deep blue lake" were astounding, and the Rim Drive was a real white-knuckle experience! Forest fires in the area gave the air a bit of a haze.

Don't climb to the top of the bluff for petroglyphs, because there aren't any, but to admire the great views of Mount Shasta, Tule Lake, and the area.
