This is a beautiful drive - an easy day trip from from Kansas City area. It's a step back in time - you can almost see the cowboys, Indians and covered wagons coming over the hills. If you are quiet you can hear the tall grass in the wind. All historical sites provided great informational brochures, talks and tours. Good food at Hayes House. If you plan to eat in Cottonwood Falls you MUST have an advance reservation.
