A Traveler's Experience

My family and I spent several days at Lake Jocassee, South Carolina, the crown jewel of the Southern Appalachians. The lake is accessed via Devil's Fork State Park in Salem, SC, just off the Cherokee Foothills Parkway. The lake is a watershed with over 90% of its 75 mile shoreline protected from development. The numerous waterfalls cascading into the lake are truly a glorious sight to behold. Camping is available at Devil's Fork or more comfortable vacation rental properties are nearby.

Want-to-Go on September 25, 2010We were driving in this area up into the Smokies with family last Fall -- and it was so beautiful! We did not know about this wonderful web site, but now we can explore this Scenic Highway and many of the others. What a great resource! Thank you!

SaFire72 on March 29, 2006 (traveled on March 5, 2006)We took a drive up to Caesar's Head and it is absolutely beautiful. We went last summer and it was kind of foggy that day. When we went this time the weather was clear and you could see Table Rock miles away. You could even see the lake next to Table Rock. We plan to drive along the highway next week for Spring Break.
