A Traveler's Experience

This was my second visit to the Root River valley area this year, and by far the best! The ridges, forests and farmlands were so green and blooming. I loved seeing huge blue and white morning glories twining up a porch in Hokah, and fields of corn, alfalfa and soybeans (I think that's what they were.)
The road goes close to the river in a few places, and people were floating down it on inner tubes. They looked so comfortable, relaxed and cool. I also several bikers on the excellent biking trail that goes through Houston, Rushford and Lanesboro. One gentleman had it easy -- cruising into Houston Nature Center on a reclining bike! I didn't get to try biking the trail myself, nor tubing the river, but I had fun window-shopping in Lanesboro, picking wild blackberries in a city park in Houston, and geocaching at Magellsen Park. Magellsen Park is on a bluff high above Rushford, and the view from there is splendid as you can see by this photo.
