A Traveler's Experience

My wife and I had a real close up view of this grizzly bear as he crossed the road in front of us near Bear Pass on the Seward Highway. We were traveling from Seward toward Anchorage when the bear ran out in front of us. He was about 75 yards from us and we were doing 50 MPH. Pulling a fifth-wheel trailer, with our total weight at 20,000 pounds, I had real doubts that we were going to stop before hitting him if he stoped on the roadway. My wife yelled BEAR BEAR, I yelled take his picture, and the tires were yelling STOP, you know that noise. The bear looked up, saw us and ran to the other side of the road not missing a step. As you can see my wife took his picture as we passed him. Funny thing; There was an artist shop there called "The Crazy Moose Studio". My wife thought he was going there to visit. I'll put my money on the trash can out back.
