A Traveler's Experience

We had a great time hiking down into the depths of Bryce Canyon on a sunny September morning. The view looking down there was daunting, as were the red faces and panting breaths of the people passing us going up the switchbacks as we went down. But the work was totally worth it. You hike the sunny switchbacks easily, enjoying the view the whole time, then you enter the cool, shadowed slot canyon down below to find an amazing treasure -- a straight, tall, mature pine tree reaching to amazing heights in a narrow space to reach the sunlight so high above the orange-red sandstone. It was almost cathedral-like.
