A Traveler's Experience

We traveled The Great River Road from Minneapolis, Minnesota to LaCrosse, Wisconsin on a cool, misty day with intermittent rain. Old Man River didn't care about the weather; there was a great sense of the ageless power of the river. We'd find ourselves at an overlook, just staring in silence at the majesty of the river. This far north there wasn't a lot of boat traffic, commercial or pleasure, just the timeless river. The small towns are worth a stop too. Quaint shops, good food, friendly people. We are going to do it again, in better weather, but I doubt the experience will be as powerful!
