A Traveler's Experience

The Amish region of Ohio has always held a fascination for my wife and me. As it is relatively near our home in eastern Ohio, we visit there often.
Recently, we drove west on Ohio SR 16 from I-77, then north on SR 93 through Fresno and on to the Pearl Valley Cheese factory. The outstanding selection of quality cheeses and butter led us to join other customers in reducing their inventory by a significant degree via a large purchase of several varieties.
After lingering a while to watch workmen making cheese, we motored six miles farther north to Baltic for a lovely and delicious lunch at Miller's Restaurant.
After eating, we browsed the gift shop across the street. When we returned to our car there were several horse and buggy rigs parked nearby.
We left the way we came on SR 93 south to SR 16 and back to I-77. We not only had a very nice outing, but purchased excellent cheese at approximately half the normal price at home. The price difference was much greater than the cost of our fuel for the nearly 200 mile round trip.
Though increasing fuel costs may deter many from recreational motoring, our 50+ MPG diesel automobile helps reduce much of the pain at the pump and allows us to continue enjoying our forays into the Amish region of Ohio on an ongoing and regular basis.
