I had always wanted to go to Oregon. Finally it was just time to take the trip.
I flew to Portland, rented a car and proceeded on my two-week road trip. Spent five days in Corvallis to tour the wine country and McMinnville for the annual UFO festival. Then drove to Eugene and over to Florence on the coast. Going through the Suislaw Forest was spectacular!
Once I got to the coast every turn of Pacific Coast Scenic Byway was more breathtaking than the last. Must see the Sea Lion Caves in Florence. Every bit of the drive to Lincoln City was amazing. Spent three days in LC then up the coast through Tillamook, Garabaldi (beautiful.
The drive was amazing, each mile of the way - all the way into Cannon Beach. Spent three days in CB and did not want to leave. Ecola State Forest is a must see. Literally brought tears to my eyes.
Seaside and Astoria were side trips and well worth it. Seaside brought me back to my chilhood and the Jersey boardwalks and fun rides. Best ever corn dogs!
Then back to Portland for four days. Great city with amazing parks and zoo. The Japanese Garden is a must-see.
I spent a day driving through the Columbia River Gap (scenic way, of course-- on the Historic Columbia River Highway) driving to countless waterfalls including Multnomah and even hiked the mile and a half to the very top - yeah, I made it!
It was two wonderful, glorious weeks. And yes, I am woman, of a certain age, and traveled by myself. Words really can't describe the feeling of such beauty. Now that I have found your website, I am inspired for more road trips. There is so much of this country I want to see. I am glad you are there to help me find and map my way.

KissMyBulldog on November 15, 2008 (traveled on November 15, 2008)Incredible scenery! We spent nearly a day from Vancouver to Bonneville Dam. I took so many pictures, it was hard to decide which to share, but I found the people fishing along the river near the dam extraordinary. Hundreds of people of all ages were shoulder to shoulder with fishing poles, waiting patiently for the catch.

inspired on January 16, 2011 (traveled on June 17, 2010)Traveling along highway 101 inspired us to write and publish a short devotional based on the incredible sights and experiences. The misty shoreline and ebony rocks were just what we expected. We were not disappointed.
OregonCoaster on September 7, 2008I live only a few hours from the Oregon Coast and travel there often. The natural beauty of our coastline is really wonderful, from the rocky cliffs to towering sea stacks just...
