A Traveler's Experience
Ron on January 4, 2004 (traveled on April 13, 2002)A1A Scenic & Historic Coastal Byway (FL)
I now reside on this historic stretch of Florida's A1A Highway. It is nice for sure. You have St. Augustine, Ormond By The Sea, Ormond Beach (true birthplace of NASCAR), and on to Port Orange.
It is a nice two lane road through much of St. John's and Flagler Counties, and same for a stretch in Volusia County. Flagler Beach is a quaint seaside village; even old Marineland is on this road. Matanzas Inlet area is pretty. With I-95 currently under construction in the St. Augustine area (as of Jan 2004), it's worth the diversion. Lots of interesting mom & pop eateries as well.
