Our favorite quick getaway from the Silicon Valley is Big Sur. This time of year is fantastic for whale watching. We have 2 favorite places to stop for some awesome whale watching and sunset viewing: Rocky Point and Nepenthe. Both are restaurant/bars right off Hwy 1 on the ocean with great outdoor decks. Eat light though, since the food can be pricey. We like to order a few appetizers and a couple beers/glasses of wine and savor the ambience. Nothing beats it!!!
