Though short in length, the 2-mile long Route 125- Lemon Grove is one of the most scenic drives in San Diego County. Located above residential and commercial areas of the San Diego suburbs, this may seem like an unconventional byway, but take a closer look. Off in the distance is Mt. Helix, with impressive presence among this mostly urban area. Beyond the corridor, distant views of Cowles Mountain to the northwest, and to Dictionary Hill and San Miguel Mountain to the south and southeast are particularly significant to the scenic character of the corridor.
The surrounding area along the byway is known for its rich Hispanic culture, perfect climate, sandy beaches, and some of the best surfing in California. Surprisingly snowy peaks are to the east of the byway, and just across the border is fun and adventure in Mexico. Numerous public outdoor recreation areas, including Cleveland National Forest, three state parks, seven state beaches, two state historic parks, one state reserve, and a myriad of county facilities, are located near the byway. Check out amazing recreation opportunities, such as swimming, surfing, surf fishing, horseback riding, hiking, road biking, mountain biking, picnicking, and camping.
