Grand View Scenic Byway -- Overview

Published on Jun 7, 2005

Grand View Scenic Byway is the perfect place to spend a day taking in panoramic views, shopping, and dining in the finest restaurants Pittsburgh has to offer. From the vantage point of a ridge overlooking Pittsburgh, you will see the dividing point of the Ohio River, the home fields of the Steelers and the Pirates, and the attractive architecture that dots the city's landscape.

Stop at Monongahela Incline and watch the view of Pittsburgh change as you descend the 400 feet of lush green hillside. You won't miss the eagle-eye view for long; your eyes will be carried this way and that as they take in all the highlights of the big city. After you've enjoyed your afternoon of city sights, take your armload of shopping bags over to the Duquesne Incline and make the trip once more back up the steep ridge.

Once you've reached the top, leave the shopping bags in the car and head over to Restaurant Row where you will find ten popular restaurants of different cuisines. Each shares a view of the city that can't be surpassed. Enjoy a meal with your loved ones as the sunset reflects off of the glass-paneled skyscrapers in the city, and reminisce about a fun-filled day along Grand View Scenic Byway.
