Located south of famous Lake Havasu near the California/Arizona border, Parker Dam Road is located in an area known as the “Parker Strip,” named for its vast variety of recreational activities. Come roll down the windows and enjoy the sunshine as you drive adjacent to the banks of the Colorado River.
Drive the byway during fall, winter, or spring, and you’ll find temperatures that allow you to make the most of your visit. Take advantage of one of the byway’s many recreational and leisure time opportunities, including hiking trails, fishing, camping, boating, rock hounding, off-road vehicle driving, and wildlife viewing. Anglers will delight in finding catfish, bluegill, and bass as they fish the Colorado River. Sit back and watch native herds of wild burros, introduced into the Desert Southwest by Spaniards in the 1500s, as they lazily forage for food in the desert landscape.
Dust off your camping gear, fishing gear, hiking boots, or boat and enjoy all that the Lake Havasu area has to offer along Parker Dam Road. You’ll surely see why this desert utopia has been named the “Thread of Life.”
